Important HR Tip

October 17th, 2008 Posted in Speaking & Events, The Queen Recommends, Uncategorized

My friend and colleague, Ed Navis, was telling me about his new client who was planning to open an office with three employees in California. When Ed looked at the situation, he found that they would have to make a few adjustments to get ready to hire people. The lesson here: California laws are very different from the other 49 states. (Around the HR water cooler, we jokingly refer to it as  the country of California .) While laws do differ from state to state, California takes different  to a whole new level. So if you think you might soon need an office there or in any state other than your own, research the employment laws very well.

Ed is offering a series of teleseminars on HR issues.  He is smart and knowledgeable and I recommend his work.
